Sitting by the fire near the spa. With the storm bearing down.....the place is a ghost town.
We woke up this morning.....and I took Laurie to the Horseshoe for brunch. They had comped me so we ate for cheap............we ate things we shouldn't and enjoyed them very much. After that, I drove Laurie to the spa at Harrah's and dropped her off. Then it was back to the Horseshoe for me.
Laurie heads in for a spa day
I went to Starbucks and got a latte....and then went to sit down at the poker tables. When play stopped last night, everyone put their chips in a sealed bag with a slip with their name and amounts on them. These bags are stored in the cage and come out the next day. There were sealed chip bags from four different "flights", or qualifier tournaments. There were 426 entrants into the tournament total, and today's finals started with the last 60 players. I started with 51,400 chips.....not a big stack by any standard. The biggest stack was 250k chips.
Play started at 2 P.M. The tournament continued until there were 4 people left........and the one with the most chips (called the chip leader) made an offer to give part of first place money to the other 3 and play would be over. The offer was fair, and three of the players accepted the offer from the chip leader. The tournament was over......and from 426 players, then there was one.
And it was me. A nice payday for me! Any day you have a five figure day at the poker tables is a good one.
I had a hell of a day....I played well, and got lucky when I needed to. I am quite happy that Laurie suggested our visit to Tunica! As for what tomorrow holds....it is raining pigs and chickens right now and it's freezing to whatever it hits. And there's thunder and lightning. I sort of doubt we'll get out of here tomorrow. While we may make it out of here....we have 5 hours of I-40 which is right in the middle of this storm that we would have to cover. Pretty sure it'll be a Tuesday trip home.
But today was good.
