I haven't written anything since our trip at Christmas. I like to do hints and advice posts between trips to share our experience with other travelers or future travelers......it gives readers a first hand perspective and hopefully will make them more comfortable with the concept of international travel. This post, we talk about an airline that's new to us, British Airways.
We flew British Airways for the first time on our 2018/2019 trip as BA now has a Nashville/Heathrow non-stop. I can leave work a few hours early and wake up in the UK the next morning with no stops and no plane changes. This makes travel to Europe so much easier and so much more inviting.
BA flies this route with a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, one of Boeing's newer planes. The plane has all the new bells and whistles, large overhead bins, and it was smoother and much quieter than many planes I have been on. The cabin crew were great and very attentive. This was our first flight on British Airways and it was definitely a positive experience, one we hope to repeat on our next trip to Europe!
The seating was a 3/3/3 configuration, a bit tighter than the 2/4/2 configuration on some other planes. This does seem to be the wave of the future and is of course revenue based, an extra seat a row is quite a bit of money for each flight. We like the outside seats on 2/4/2 aircraft but prefer the middle on 3/3/3 flights. Our school of thought is that you only have to have one person move to get out of your seat, and with two of us in the same row, we're not disturbing someone else. We got lucky and the 3rd seat was not occupied, meaning Laurie could lay down a bit and sleep.
