"48"- Day 8- Blizzard of cataclysmic proportions
(Its did not kill us. You're reading this so it's pretty obvious that we're not dead. Haha Weather Channel.)
Not dead.

The Weather Channel warned us about the horrific deadly cataclysmic blizzard of Christmas 2022 which blew in last night. How did we cope with such a terrible event???? The Weather Channel was hysterical. We reviewed our options on how we could best handle such a situation and decided on a course of action. How did we survive? What was our secret?
We slept late. We had a nice breakfast (pork chops and hash browns). We had coffee and a pastry from the bakery. Oh yeah......we had to clean about 5 inches of snow off the car with a broom. The horror.....................

They have serious snow moving equipment here
Our day was not exciting, but we did take the truck out into the countryside and took a few photos that were pretty dramatic. We had fantastic light, clear weather, and only had to contend with a bit of wind. I have a lens that I spent an excessive amount of money on and I questioned my own sanity for doing this. After using it I said "oh. That's where that money went." I am often reminded that with optics....you get what you pay for. I got my money's worth.
Where the money went. Shot with "that" lens.
We shot photos of the wind coming across a frozen lake, pushing huge walls of fluffy snow. The vistas were breathtaking. Long flat expanses gave us breathtaking landscapes to photograph. Odd wind patterns made the snow look like the ocean, fluid with movement.
More from "that" lens
I took over 300 photos today. Yes, some are throw aways due to bad composition, a little out of focus, or maybe I just didn't like them......but a huge number of killer shots were left over. It was difficult to pare them down to a reasonable number. I'm not chatty enough to write enough copy to shoehorn between these photos....so we'll have to rely on the slide show. You MUST check out the slide show today.
Trucks waiting for the road across the pass to open.
We went up over the pass into Idaho, but ran into stopped traffic a mile or so later. We turned around and came back to town. We had homemade soup for a late lunch/early dinner, cleaned all our camera gear, and started downloading photos. The photos that both Laurie and I took today were stunning.
Our current temperature. (Edit- It got worse. -41 F)
What are we going to do tomorrow? Hard to say. We will NOT be snowmobiling. We planned to start tomorrow but stopped at the rental place to take that day out of the reservation. When I asked the reservations lady said "yeah.........we were gonna call you about that". The high tomorrow is supposed to be -4 degrees Farenheit (for our friends in Europe that read the blog...that's -20 Celcius). Nobody thinks it wise to snowmobile in that weather.
A wee bit of snow
Maybe we'll stay in. Maybe we'll have fantastic light and go out to take photos from the truck. We're not in a hurry and really good weather awaits us to snowmobile later in the week. Check out the slideshow below....and we'll worry about tomorrow...tomorrow. Goodnight everyone.
