Kayak fishing on Claytor Lake, VA

We try to get out on the water when we can.  We have kayaks, and a small fishing boat.  We sometimes travel to other places to fish and boat, often with friends.

This particular picture was taken in Virginia , at Claytor Lake.    This lake has good fishing and I grew up fishing there.  When we go to Claytor Lake we usually meet friends while we're there.

We have rented houses on the lake in the past.  The thing about Claytor Lake is that the houses are right on the lake.  You can pull your boat or Kayak right up to where you are staying.

We really enjoy going to the New River in Virginia.    We like putting in and floating down river while fishing for small mouth bass, which the river is famous for.

We have stayed on the river several times and it is one of our favorite places to fish.

We also like to fish in the areas around where we live.    There are rivers and lakes just minutes from our house.    We can have the boat in the water in 15 minutes.   We usually use our boat for the lakes and kayaks for the rivers.

Fishing here include largemouth bass, crappie, and other panfish.  When we aren't traveling this is local recreation for us.  Laurie has learned to run the boat and has become quite proficient.
