From 1987 to 1997, Bill spent weekends working as a motorsports photographer.  He worked primarily on the NASCAR Winston Cup tour and also covered Indy Cars, IMSA, sports cars, sprint cars, NHRA drag racing, and many others. 

His work has  been published around the world and Getty Images still handles a few of his images.  He stopped  doing professional photography  in 1997 and instead focused on crewing on formula cars.  This led to  racing formula cars starting in the late '90's.

A few of his racing images are below.  He concentrates  solely on travel and night/star photography today.
