Caffe Nero, a large coffee house chain in Europe
We arose this morning in Edinburgh, had a lovely breakfast, and bid the Capital Residences farewell. We put our packs on our backs, took the bus downtown and walked the last few blocks to the train station. We bought our tickets and headed west to Glasgow, a short 50 minute trip. We arrived at Queen's station in Glasgow, perhaps a block and a half from our hotel. We humped to the hotel, and were able to check in early which we were quite pleased about. Then we went out to wander about in Glasgow.

The guide books all said that Glasgow would take no more than a day to see everything of consequence.......and I can understand that. While a fine city, it's just a city. It had large crowds out shopping on Saturday, which we joined in......and it's a nice city....but not as impressive as Edinburgh. Laurie said several times that it reminded her of Toronto. We did see a few street performers who were really good....and I've uploaded a video of them. They were awesome....do check out the video. Other than that, not too many pics of Glasgow....it just wasn't that remarkable (no offense to the very nice people we met who call it home). I think I'll upload a few more Edinburgh pics as well.
I didn't know he was Scottish!
One of the things we did after arriving in Glasgow was to pick up our rental car. We are driving about in a Vauxhall somethinganother diesel....a non descript economy car which will do exactly what we need it to. Laurie did go with me to pick it up and ride shotgun. I figured the whole driving on the left thing would be tricky.....and it was, but not as bad as I thought. It was difficult on the hills and such, on the left side of the road in heavy city traffic. I'm used to having car to my right in the race car.....so that didn't bother me...and neither did sitting on the right. The one thing that I found the most difficult was SHIFTING with my left hand, especially on a gated 6 speed.

Tonight, I took Laurie to a concert, which she will tell everyone about.......a great show which I'm sure she'll do justice in her description. Tomorrow morning, we head for Fort William, and Mallaig. We will catch the ferry for the Isle of Skye........expect amazing pictures from there!
